An all too familiar story, now with a different ending.
We are in an era of carefully curated social media feeds that readily attempt to promote or dictate a particular narrative. In doing so, they seem to presents clients with an almost pre-determined, one-size-fits-all result regardless of hair type or lifestyle. As long as you are interested in what is deemed to be in fashion, this may suit you just fine. That said, hope you like being upsold services and pushed to purchase lots of products. Funny how at least half of them never seem to work on your hair, right? Oh, and you should probably book in that follow up appointment to keep it all maintained.
For those who don't align with this ideal, a salon visit can often result in frustration and consistently underwhelming results. You know how it goes. Once home and washed your cut lacks any sort of supportive flattering shape. It's not awful, but will probably require more time, tools and energy than you want to give it. That's if they even listened to you in the first place and didn't do the exact opposite of what you specifically asked them not to. Either way, your cut then grows out poorly resulting in frequent visits for exactly the same thing: maybe looks great when you leave and then, rarely ever again. Rinse. Repeat.
Well, there was that one local hairdresser who wasn't too bad. They had some potential, perhaps you'll give them another go. You call and make a booking for a few weeks later. On arrival though, your chosen hairdresser isn't there and the salon owner tries to put you with someone else. Supposedly they are 'just as good'. When you inquire further it seems your particular hairdresser no longer works at the salon and no one has any idea what happened to them. This isn't the first time you've heard of this. You silently start to wonder if maybe there's a serial killer on the loose.
With the exception of that last bit, this all sounds painfully familiar right? Why isn't there an alternative? One which fully understands and caters to the needs of whom this story resonates with most soundly? Well, Tom's practice has been intentionally designed to support those who have long struggled with what has been described here. Perhaps you're just someone who finds the salon environment itself to be an anxious, noisy, or uncomfortable environment to be in? You will especially find the space here to be one which is safe, sensitive and considerate of those needs.
Too good to be true? Rest assured, this isn't like any place you've been before. Tom is not a conventional salon hairdresser who simply chose to work alone. No, in fact the terms 'hairdresser' and 'salon' are not an accurate or desired description. Make no mistake, the highly acclaimed success Tom has built is due to an deliberate avoidance of the flawed indoctrination and training that the hairdressing industry provides and prides themselves on. Tom's thriving practice is a testament that challenging the established norms continues to resonate soundly throughout Australia and beyond.
